About 70,000 years ago, the human population dropped to only a couple thousand people, which means we have less genetic variation than chimps and gorillas.

    Interesting, the recent spate of books/films on “earth without us.” Imagine the planetary sigh of relief!

    Too many other primates are dwindling in numbers, and might not survive the next fifty years.
