Cory Doctorow at Boing Boing gives a great review of the Full Cast Audio version of Buddha Boy by Kathe Koja, which includes my cover art.
Congratulations, Kathe!

Bug Dreams, my newest book, is now available. Bug Dreams, a 40 page hardcover book with dustjacket, takes you deep into a green microwilderness, a dreamless moment of light.
From the introduction by Kathe Koja:
”In the green world, all days are one Day, and evening is a dreamless moment. The philosophy of life there is quite simple, but expressed in a million ways, a billion: the twitch of compound eyes, the ballet stretch of a leg, the fierce distension of a mandible.”

A nice late winter day, the competitive grackles were back this week.
Like the determined relative of the orioles below, one of the images featured in my Aerial Acrobats book, they are aggressive, noisy and entertaining.

Here’s a determined starling in winter from a previous post, seemed appropriate for today, wonderful feather patterns against the stark, cold sky.
This image is the back cover of my bird book, Aerial Acrobats.

The wonderful writer, blogger and internet activist Cory Doctorow just wrote a nice post on Boing Boing about my backyard bird photography and book Aerial Acrobats.
I’m really hoping to show how these small, often ignored, birds are endlessly fascinating. I’ve spent thousands of hours, and it’s always entertaining.
The image below also appears in the book, two grackles battling, each seeking to rule their common territory, rusty screeches echoing their determination.
Here’s more information on ordering my book, Aerial Acrobats.

Aerial Acrobats is now available, in time for the holidays. Aerial Acrobats is my first collection, a 40 page hardcover book (7×7 inches with dustjacket) of some of my favorite images of birds in flight.

From the introduction by Kathe Koja:
Because they are so lovely, and seem so fragile – they *are* fragile – we tend to think of birds as delicate creatures, literally above the fray of the earthbound existence the rest of us live. But in these photographs, we can see the bird’s-eye view for what it is, and how tough and resilient these animals are, and have to be.

A softcover edition is also available. More information and reviews here.
