Just over a quarter-inch long, a young praying mantis looks ready for battles to come. At this stage, it’s almost as vulnerable and defenseless as its future prey.

    Very zen-like stance. Haven't seen a mantis in a few years. Last one I remember decided to hitch a ride from Detroit to the suburbs in my car.

    We transport and displace many more creatures than we will ever be aware of. Hope your mantis enjoyed its new home. Maybe it was doing the mantis version of Kerouac’s “On The Road”.

    Actually, it is practicing a karate stance, the “Come Any Closer And I’ll Eat You” position.
