Rick : Given the action you have captured, you did amazing well to get the level of details on this. Awesome.

Thanks, Thomas. Grackles are hard, more skittish than you might expect.

I hear another message in that face:

“It may snow. Food may be covered. Ice may cover the water.

    I still survive.”

    • Rick April 8, 2009 at 10:41 am #

I hope we all survive, Pete.

Nope, nope, nope – it should be:

“Eat yer heart out falcons all!”

He’s a fierce (looking) fellow he is!

Thanks Amy. Grackles always seem vexed and wary.

They are really beautiful Moe, wish they were easier to photograph.

Fierce, ominous, a wizard . . . cloaked in feathers! What a powerful shot!

Thanks Diane. I’ve seen a few grackles in the past week, so I think they’re back for spring.

I have too. They can be fierce I remember they used to attack my dog in our yard as a kid . . . lol

Love their shiny coat . . . oddly enough, this one in particular seems to remind me of a bald eagle, such a proud stance

    Again, great shot!

Thanks Diane. Their coloring is wonderful, and the shape of their beak makes appear to be frowning.
