A very special kind of dynamite

She looked like a very special kind of dynamite,
neatly wrapped in crimson and feathers.

Only I wasn’t having any.
I’d been too close to an explosion already.
I was powder shy.

A female cardinal bewitches with her crimson charms.

This is special for me. My mom’s favorite bird was the cardinal and we don’t get them out here.

What a beautiful, fortuitous capture. I love also the prose, it has the feel of a noir detective.

Thanks, Zoe. And you’re right, the dialogue is a retrofitted bit
from the noir movie “They Won’t Believe Me”.

Spectacular shot! And I’m with zoe: retrofitted or not, the prose is a delightful wrapping for the image.

Thanks Jason. I want my images to suggest more than I can say, and the dialog is a fun way to do it.

Love the text. You’ve developed a new genre, bird noir.

Thanks Mark. Much more intrigue in the air than we imagine.
