After sunset
Just after sunset this past spring, I tried to avoid the poison ivy and hope for enough light to make this image of an Ebony Jewelwing Damselfly, with the cool blue sky light contrasting with the green and brown meadow grasses.

Well you did it, this is gorgeous.
ps: how do you get the stumble button in your comment/ post line?
Thanks, CheyAnne. Since I host my blog myself, I hand-coded the Stumble button into my blog using the code Stumbleupon.com provides on their site.
I’m not sure how to do it on a site like yours hosted by Wordpress.com. I would think they might have a tutorial on adding various buttons.
Wow, how gorgeous. What a great photo, but what a great eye for photography, too.
Thanks, Moe. I saw this damselfly while waiting for fireflies at dusk this spring.
Yet for aesthetics we should also consider the blurry, dreamy realm at the full-open end of the spectrum.
One of my favorite photographers, Rick Lieder, works exclusively wide open using ambient light, and his results are stunning.
The importance of aperture
Enchanting moment. And that is the most beautiful color I’ve ever seen!
Thanks Zoe. This spot on the river is great for fireflies too, but I almost always get caught by the impossible to avoid poison ivy.
But I keep coming back.
